You may be asking yourself, do we really need another travel blog in the interwebs? Aren’t we chock full of travel influencers traipsing around the globe already? Maybe… but hear me out.
When you think of travel influencers and travel bloggers, what comes to mind? Do you get a mental image of young 20-somethings partying on a beach somewhere, or living #vanlife, or showing you amazing hotel rooms with scantily clad nubile young women swimming to the edge of a plunge pool? Of course you do. Those are the images we’re inundated with on social media.
If you’re a woman of a certain age though, if you’ve maybe raised children during those “prime of youth” days and now the days of becoming an empty nester are looming… or if you have recently been divorced after decades with your ex… or widowed… hmmm, those travel obsessed social media accounts are lacking a bit of representation for you. Sure they show fresh out of college women blazing new trails and traveling the world solo but where are the women who look like you; the ones that need to pack wrinkle creme along with their sunscreen? Where are the women who, age be damned, are showing the rest of us that travel dreams and adventure don’t have an expiration date? That courageousness, fearlessness, and fun-seeking aren’t the sole domain of youth? That you don’t need to wait for your spouse, your friends, your family to decide to indulge your restless spirit?
The mission of this site is to show to you that you can travel. Yes, I’m talking to you – the 40, 50- 60, or even 70-something woman who has always wanted to shop in Paris, or see the Grand Canyon, or dive the Great Barrier Reef but held off on your dreams because of family obligations, finances, lack of a travel companion, or simply fear of the unknown.
Growing up the only child of a very working class family, travel was a luxury that we just couldn’t afford. And yet, I was enthralled with the idea of seeing the world from the time I was a young girl. Despite financial limitations, despite the lack of a traveling buddy, despite at times being afraid to venture into the unknown, I made travel a central pillar of my life. So far, I have traveled to over 30 countries and visited all 50 of the United States, most of that as a solo traveler. If I can do, you can too. Let me inspire you to make those travel dreams a reality and prove to yourself that you are more than capable of traveling – whether on a girls’ trip, a group trip, or even a solo trip.
This site will contain news for women travelers, inspiration for your future trips, guidance to prepare you for your adventures, and trip reports from my travels. Feel free to drop me a line to ask me any questions and follow me on social media. Let’s start talking…
